Making Running Outside Your First Option! #OptOutside

November 10, 2018

Join BGR! Nation for REI #OptOutside on Friday, November 23rd! Check out what our BGR! NYC (Bronx) Ambassador, Gisela Perez had to say about why #OptOutside is so important!

Gisela is an Ambassador for BGR! NYC Bronx area. She is 65 years old and has been running for over 40 years. Gisela has completed 31 marathons, one Ultra Marathon (60K) and over 100 half marathons and countless of 5ks, and 10ks. Gisela's biggest accomplishment was completing the Empire State Building Run Up last year. The Empire State Building Run Up consist of running 1,576 stairs and 86 floors. Gisela is very proud of this amazing accomplishment which she did at the age of 64 years old in 31 minutes and 6 seconds.

"It is important to recognize #OptOutside because the #OptOutside movement is about improving, health, mental wellness, and learning about new outdoor activities in the community and the world. It is about bringing families and friends together to experience and enjoy the many different types of outdoor adventures that are available. #OptOutside is about being happy, feeling energize, laughter and spending quality time with oneself or family and friends. It is about getting out the house/apartment and getting the body to move. It is about living our best life!

It is also important to recognize #OptOutside because it is a world-wide movement that offers us the choice of going outside and learning new, interesting and fun activities that ultimately can result in world-wide improved health for all humankind."
