WARNING: DO NOT LET HURRICANE SANDY KEEP YOU FROM YOUR WORK OUT GOALS THIS WEEK!!!!

If you are like me your first thought is to snuggle up on the couch with a cup of hot tea while watching something that will make you teary eyed on Lifetime, or catching up on the 12 hours of DVR you have been meaning to get to.  You absolutely should do that, AFTER you give yourself a little work out. Here are a few suggestions! #1. Do you have stairs? If so, climb them! Make a 20-minute playlist, blast your iPod and get to work! #2. Crack open that mail order DVD you ordered a few months ago while watching late night TV, the yoga DVD you saw in Target on sale, or turn your cable channel to any of the Work Out On Demand stations. Now, sweat! #3.  Watching TV? Use the commercial breaks to do 30-second planks.  You can probably get in at least 4-6 during the break! Your core will thank you later! #4. Stretch it out! Since you knew Sandy was coming you probably racked up a few miles this weekend, take some time to do the stretching that you usually don’t do. Break out your foam roller or Stick and give your muscles a stretch! #5. Hop on your dread..ooops … I mean treadmill and do some intervals! You’ll see the results from this when you shave a few minutes off  of your next race! Whatever you decide, do not let Sandy ruin all the work you have been putting in. STAY AWAY FROM THE FRIDGE AND PANTRY! Don’t gobble up everything you have in the house, keep up with the moderation you have been practicing. Hurricane Sandy is a temporary inconvenience to you; don’t let her be a permanent fix on your goals! Stay safe & dry!
