BGR Nation, are you ready? It’s almost that time. The weekend we’ve all been waiting for! The Drive to End Hunger Race Weekend is right at our feet! It’s time to start packing your favorite running shoes, shorts, and let’s not forget your BGR! Tee. This weekend will be one to remember! Runners, joggers, and walkers will unite this weekend for a great cause. As you know, we are teaming up with AARP to host the Drive to End Hunger Race to tackle hunger and obesity in our community. The fun starts on Friday, September 13th with our BGR Mixer, which will kickoff our Inaugural Conference, and ends with an awesome race on Sunday, September 16th. All of BGR in the same place at the same is going to be epic!   Check out our itinerary for the weekend Friday, September 14 Conference Registration Location: Sheraton Hotel Lobby 165 Courtland Street NE. Atlanta, Ga. Time: 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Race Packet Pick-Up Sheraton Hotel 165 Courtland Street NE. Atlanta, Ga. Time: 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. You must show a photo ID to receive your race number and timing chip. If you are picking up a race packet for someone else, you must show a copy of their ID as well. Race numbers are required to participate. There will be no packet pick-up on race day. Preserve the Sexy Mixer (For conference registrants only) Location: Sheraton Hotel 165 Courtland Street NE. Atlanta, Ga. Time: 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Start the weekend with nibble, gnosh and networking. Meet Black Girls RUN! members from across the country! Saturday, September 15 Conference Registration Location: Sheraton Hotel Lobby 165 Courtland Street NE. Atlanta, Ga. Time: 8 a.m. – 10 a.m Breakfast Gathering Location: Sheraton Hotel Capitol Ballroom 165 Courtland Street NE. Atlanta, Ga. Time: 8: 00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Race Packet Pick-Up Sheraton Hotel 165 Courtland Street NE. Atlanta, GA Time: 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. You must show a photo ID to receive your race number and timing chip. Workshop 1: 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Workshop 2: 11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Black Girls Run! isn’t solely about the number of miles you run in a week. BGR! wants to encourage us to live a healthy long life and that starts with information. This workshop series will address everything from nutrition to motivation, yoga to hair care. To view the complete conference schedule, click here. Lunch on your own Location: A list of great local restaurants will be provided Time: Noon – 2 p.m. Atlanta is a Foodie town. While we don’t encourage you to go overboard before a race, but do take some time and experience something yummy. Be sure to check your registration packets for discount coupons as well. Workshop 3: 2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Workshop 4: 3:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. For Sisters Only or Free Time Time: 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. This weekend was designed to correspond with For Sister’s Only, one of the countries largest expos for everything sister-centered taking place conveniently at the Georgia World Congress Center. Or take a moment and see some of the historic sites of Atlanta. Our host hotel is walking distance to the Martin Luther King Center and the Georgia Aquarium. Black Girls RUN! Honors Dinner (Open to the public) KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Ernestine Shepherd Location: Sheraton Hotel 165 Courtland Street NE. Atlanta, Ga. Time: 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Business Casual Dress Attire Let’s celebrate the incredible journey of BGR! while we get fueled for Sunday’s race. Who doesn’t love an excuse for collective carb loading and inspirational stories from across the country. Sunday, September 16 Black Girls RUN! Race to End Hunger 5K & 10K presented by Coca-Cola (Co ed event, open to the public) Location: Atlantic Station Emcee: Veronica Waters of Kiss 104 FM Race Time: 7 a.m.
